Reiki

Reiki is the name given to a system of natural healing based on the work of Dr Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 1900s.  Dr Usui was inspired to develop this healing system from ancient teachings after many years of study, research and meditation and spent the rest of his life practising and teaching Reiki.   Today Reiki continues to be practiced by Reiki practitioners who have trained in the tradition passed down from Master to student in a direct tracable line.

Tenohira is the act of supporting Ki to emanate from the palms of the hands for healing purposes.

The practitioner places hands on or just off the body with the intent that Ki passes from them to the intended body part.  The Ki is not pushed or forced from the hands, it is actually drawn through them by the receiving body.  Once the body senses the Ki, it takes it where it needs and wants it, so although the hands may be placed on what is considered an area of need it will go where it is most needed.

The reason for placing the hands on or near the body is to allow Ki to clear stagnant energy, ultimately resulting in free flowing Ki.   A person who practices Reiki is not a Reiki ‘healer’ but a ‘practitioner’ for the simple reason that it is not the practitioner that is ‘doing’ the healing rather the universal Ki attempting to flow as freely as possible.

There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive a Reiki treatment.

A Reiki treatment is non-diagnostic, non-interventionist, non-manipulative and no pressure is applied.

A session is usually carried out with the recipient lying down or sitting, in a comfortable and peaceful environment.  There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki energy passes easily through all materials, including plaster casts.  Reiki can also be given over a distance.

Reiki may be experienced as a flow of energy, mild tingling, warmth, coolness, other sensations, or nothing at all.

I will take a short case history prior to discussing treatment options.  A treatment plan will be discussed and agreed with you, and reviewed as necessary. This will always be subject to your own preferences, and can be changed at any time in line with progress.

The whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms, a full treatment usually takes about 1 hour, with each hand position being held for several minutes.
I am a level 2 Usui Reiki Practitioner and offer body and Chakra balancing, Aura cleansing and Healing to mind, body and spirit.

If I feel it's appropriate and you are comfortable with it, I will incorporate crystals in the session.

Fee: £30/session.  As I wish everyone to be able to access Reiki I am happy to barter.
